Sage vs Score: Can Limited Play Yield Lucrative Star Atlas Tokens?
Star Atlas‘ Sage Labs Versus Faction Fleet: A Gaming Profitability Battle
In an adventurous exploration of the Star Atlas game universe, gamers are exploring if Sage Labs can be as lucrative as the Score Faction Fleet. The key issue being tested is whether a medium-sized fleet with limited play time can generate as much $ATLAS tokens by selling resources in the marketplace as staking ships in the Faction Fleet staking program.
Also known as Score, the Faction Fleet allowed players to earn daily $ATLAS from their ships. However, the introduction of Sage Labs has presented players with the opportunity to extract resources, sell them on the marketplace, and potentially turn a higher profit.
According to Beyond the Horizon, the first 24 hours of play highlighted the time-intensive nature of Sage Labs, requiring a significant commitment of approximately two six-hour periods across the day. This compares to merely a five-minute resupply routine for those keeping their ships in Faction Fleet.
During Beyond the Horizon’s playtest, at the end of this initial period, slightly over 1 million hydrogen had been mined and traded for 1,087 $ATLAS on the Star Atlas Marketplace. Yet, even with this income, costs such as deposit and Atlas fees, as well as extra time spent, resulted in a slight loss for the day. Still, as this was just the first day and the simplest approach, upcoming sessions are expected to be more refined and potentially lucrative.
Opinions are mixed among players with small fleets about whether profit-making efforts are best invested into Sage Labs or preserved within the Faction Fleet. However, this ongoing experiment aims to provide conclusive data to guide players’ decisions.
While the method of deployment is promising, players are reminded that the Star Atlas universe continues to expand and evolve, with three versions of Sage Labs currently available. Gamers are encouraged to remain adaptable to potential updates and changes in the gaming environment.
In conclusion, although Sage Labs requires significant time investment and has some upfront costs, it can potentially generate higher profits than the Faction Fleet. Ultimately, a gamer’s profitability from participating in the Star Atlas universe relies on their strategic deployment of time and resources.

How much did it cost to mine
You're not figuring in the cost of the R4 your ships consume while in Score. Also why use 7 small fleets to do the same job when you could make one large fleet fleet and increase the mining time and cargo capacity, you'd also have only one fleet creation rent account to pay. If you perfect things you should make at least 6X in Labs over Score.
Can't wait for part 3
Gr8 video as always… You will have to automate… and even then it can be a huge amount of work to maintain… I think many are making a killing through automation… P.S. How do you do the cool voice effect?
With the mining part, will it be first person eventually like elite dangerous?
great video especially including the impact of time and fees.
